On Tenderness & Time

Xenia Creative Retreat presents ‘On Tenderness & Time’ an exhibition by the third cohort of Xenia artists in residence. The third installment in their annual series, this show presented a selection of works inspired by their residencies. Curated by Jenn Ellis for APSARA Studio.

As part of a special collaboration for ‘handle with care’ (hwc), Sidaway worked with artist and illustrator Helen Bullock while granted the opportunity of a residency at Xenia, UK. Utilizing existing designs developed from hwc collections and remade in canvas, these garments were painted on in a creative conversation with the artist. A creative back and forth between the two, a response to each other’s mark making. The process was documented through a short film presented alongside the collection with editing and sound design by Abby Holden.
